These are the top 6 courses that I learned the most from during my Coursework at Lamar University
Leadership for Accountability Leadership for accountability was in interesting course. I am not just crazy about data but I know that school districts are driven by data. Our schools need to show improvement year by year and if they are not, they are not successful. We developed action plans after mining for data and created professional development from the data we analyzed. We also created a vision. This helped me see the big picture of the data presented about my school.
Information Systems Management I enjoyed this class and learned quite a bit from this class. It taught us what technology classrooms should look like, sound like, and be like. It gave us a good idea of what the future should hold in technology.
Video Technology and Multimedia In Video Technology and Multimedia, we worked with groups to create a public service announcement. We also created a PhotoStory. These are two programs, PhotoStory and MovieMaker that I would highly recommend to anyone needing to create a slideshow or video. Working with a group was interesting because we could use our Wiki that we created or Google Docs. Either one of these programs, I still use today in my job. Learning the ins and outs of these programs has helped my team as well because I get to share the knowledge!
Teaching with Technology Again, we worked collaboratively in our Teaching with Technology Course. We utilized Google docs and learned about UDL book builder. We had to plan a lesson for a scenario classroom. We struggled a bit keeping in contact however, the lesson turned out beautifully and we were pleased with our outcome for our "scenario" students. This helped us understand working in groups via online. It sometimes is not as easy as face to face but so much more convenient.
WebMastering Web Mastering was a very busy and diligent class. We learned about the importance of AUPolicies. We created a high level project plan and researched functionality of websites. We also got to critique our own school website which was interesting to do. This will help us understand the importance of Policies and Guidelines in the classroom and school.
Concepts of Educational Technology
I found this class to be very beneficial. Being new to the state of Texas and its educational setting I became very informed about the Texas Long Range Plan, the Technology TEKS and breaking down information on the STaR Chart. These three things will be key in my role as a technology leader. Knowing the importance of them will help me to make better, more informed decisions.
